Privacy Policy

App: NGSL Developer: tanabee Last updated: 2026-08-25

NGSL (“the App”) is an English vocabulary flashcard application. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and with whom it is shared when you use the App.

1. On-Device Learning Data

Your learning data — answer history, correct counts, mastered words, and statistics — is stored only in a local database on your device. It is never sent to or stored on our servers or any third-party servers. The App has no user accounts.

You can export your learning data as a JSON file to a location you choose, and import it on another device. These files are created only at your request and stay under your control.

Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

2. Permissions

  • Notifications — used only for the optional daily study reminder you configure in the App. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device; no data is transmitted.
  • Internet / Network state — used solely for the third-party services described below (ad delivery, purchase processing, and analytics). The App itself sends none of your learning content over the network.

3. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services. These services collect and process data independently of the App, under their own privacy policies.

3-1. Google AdMob

The App displays a banner advertisement served by Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect and use information such as:

  • Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID)
  • IP address and approximate location derived from it
  • Device information (model, OS version, language, etc.)
  • Ad interaction events

This information is used for ad delivery, measurement, frequency capping, and fraud prevention. For details, see:

Advertisements are removed permanently after the one-time “Remove ads” purchase, after which the App makes no advertising requests.

3-2. Google Play Billing

The App offers a one-time in-app purchase (“Remove ads”). Payment is processed by Google Play, which handles your purchase history to complete the transaction and to restore your purchase on reinstall or a new device. The App only stores whether ads have been removed; it does not process or store any payment card details.

3-3. Google Analytics for Firebase

The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to measure aggregate usage of the App. Events logged include:

  • Study session lifecycle events with non-identifying parameters (number of cards, correct counts, newly mastered counts)
  • “Remove ads” purchase completion
  • Reminder enablement (configured time)

The words you study and your individual answers are never sent to Analytics. Firebase Analytics processes data on Google’s infrastructure under the Google Privacy Policy. It uses a pseudonymous app instance ID and may use the advertising ID, not a personal identifier provided by the App.

3-4. Advertising ID Controls

You can reset or opt out of personalized advertising at the OS level:

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads

4. Data Retention

The App itself does not retain any data on its own servers, because it has none. Third-party services retain data according to their own retention policies, referenced above.

5. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

6. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here along with the updated date above.
